Evidenzia le privazioni e le difficoltà affrontate da due donne sole nel periodo della guerra, l’ansia e le disattese sulla sorte del padre. Esprime i sentimenti di fortuna e felicità legati al ritorno inaspettato del padre nonché il confronto e i racconti a lui riferiti sul vissuto del periodo (rastrellamento e convivenza difficile con parenti).
